Mingmong's literary talent

Friday, March 04, 2005

Feeling awake again in the middle of the night, lazy to open a textbook, and not able to have a good chat, I decided that instead of wasting my time, I should use my time constructively and stimulate my brain, rather than letting it rot away. I was reminded of the days when I used to take Literature in secondary school and I think I am thankful my mommy encouraged me to persevere with it when I was demoralised by the B4s I was getting and wanted to drop it for good. Well, fortunately, I stuck on and the British examiners seemed to appreciate my literary talents more than my fatty teacher (who was also the discipline master and probably didn't like my long hair). I got an A1. *steady bom pee pee*

Anyway, Lit is a very useful subject I must say. Improves your command of English, helps you express yourself better in words, helps you read between the lines, makes you think deep into someone else's writings/thoughts etc. Weenee is one who impressed me recently with her blog writings through the way she wields the English language. Its been a while since I read a piece of English writing that's grammatically flawless, spell-checked, and littered with words that challenges your vocabulary.

So its time Mingmong displayed his literary talents too...

The Forbidden Road

Sometime in life I reached a crossroad,
where I had to make a choice.
A lonely path where trees aged and yellowed,
or where the grass is green and birds rejoice.

The latter path brought laughter and joy,
immersing me in a dream.
There was a house where I could live and enjoy,
it seemed perfect beside a stream.

But one fine day the dark clouds grew,
and rain began to pour.
A man came by and looked like he knew,
as if this was his before.

He said to me, "this is my house,
and I want to start anew,
I left in the past and I felt like a louse,
and now I realise its virtue."

At that point I knew it was time to go,
and it all came crashing down.
The river swelled and dealt a deathblow,
and washed me back up town.

Again I stood back at the crossroad,
dejected and filled with sadness,
I began walking up the lonely road,
and slowly picked up the pieces.

I promised to never take a road,
where a special owner once lived.
I called such roads "The Forbidden Road",
which, in future will be sieved.

But once again I reach a junction,
with a wonderful path ahead.
This path seems nice and filled with perfection,
so up this path I tread.

A house lay empty in the distance,
and I wondered if it was taken.
What if? The owner returns in silence,
then again I will be heart-broken.

I've longed to find a wonderful resting place,
to spend all my life with a smile.
Although its risky, its a chance I'll embrace,
because this path makes it worthwhile.

Not too bad for close to 2 hours of thinking? I say its a great job!

This certainly adds some diversity to this blog. Otherwise, you all might get bored with all the crap shit I am writing. I'm not always full of shit you know? Well, maybe not now since I already took a dump just now. Like Teckie always says, "Eu Ming always has inspiration after he comes back from the toilet."

Ok enough detail, hope this adds more flavour to this shit hole. Goodnight!! Thank God Its Friday tomorrow.
